Valladolid, 9 Dec. 2025. The Regional Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Rural Development of Castilla y León has lifted, as of today, Tuesday 9 Dec., the control measures in the surveillance and protection zones against avian influenza that were implemented in September. During this period, seven outbreaks were recorded in the south of Valladolid, according to the recently published Official Gazette of Castilla y León (Bocyl).
These outbreaks led to the establishment of protection zones (0 to 3 kilometres around each focus) and surveillance zones (3 to 10 kilometres), which were subsequently extended on 27 October to 20 kilometres. These restrictions are now lifted due to the improved situation and the absence of new outbreaks.
The decision was taken following compliance with the established timeframes: 30 days since the preliminary cleaning and disinfection of all declared outbreak sites, as had been planned.
Nevertheless, the Regional Government has decided to extend the ban on holding gatherings of poultry and other captive birds in the Region. This measure aims to prevent the spread of avian influenza while Order APA/1288/2025, of 11 November, remains in force, which establishes the confinement of holdings to prevent transmission. Across Spain, no new cases of Avian Influenza have been recorded since 20 October.
