Strategic Communications Officer

About the position

We are a pioneering agri-food research institute of the Generalitat de Catalunya, with a team of more than 800 people working across 19 research and development areas, contributing to innovation, competitiveness and the sustainable development of the agri-food sector, and more broadly to the improvement of societal wellbeing and prosperity.

We currently operate 10 of our own work centres and are located across 19 sites throughout the territory.

We are looking to recruit a Strategic Communications Officer to collaborate with the Corporate Communications Directorate on operational and strategic projects to reinforce IRTA’s communications strategy and ensure its implementation. The selected candidate will carry out their work primarily at our Torre Marimon centre, located in Caldes de Montbui.

Specific duties of the post:

  • Support the Corporate Communications Directorate in the design and implementation of IRTA’s new strategic plan.
  • Coordinate with other Organisational Units to align internal and external communications in order to build the brand and reinforce the organisation’s corporate culture.
  • Act as a liaison between the Head of Communications and other Organisational Units and external collaborators.
  • Prepare presentations, speeches and other materials to address the Centre’s communications challenges.
  • Collaborate with other members of the communications team in the supervision of content for dissemination.
  • Coordinate initiatives, institutional campaigns and cross-cutting communications projects that are delegated to them.
  • Review the organisation’s corporate narrative to improve the image and reputation of the research centre.
  • Monitor key communications metrics and produce reports for the Directorate.
  • Participate in IRTA Think Tank sessions as rapporteur to produce policy briefs on the most strategic topics for IRTA.
  • Draft institutional speeches and redefine the corporate presentations strategy.
  • Coverage of corporate events.

Education:

  • University degree in journalism, public relations, advertising or equivalent qualifications.
  • Postgraduate degree or master’s in Communications or related to IRTA’s areas of work.

Experience:

  • Experience in corporate and institutional communications in public and/or private institutions, or experience as a journalist in media organisations.

Languages:

  • Full and demonstrable linguistic competence in Catalan, Spanish and English.
