HEVO GROUP acquires egg producer EL GRANJERO and raises its capacity to over 120 million dozens annually

Cabanillas del Campo, 18 August 2025Hevo Group, a key player in the European poultry sector, has taken a landmark step in its growth and consolidation strategy by announcing the acquisition of Producciones Avícolas El Granjero, one of the most representative and emblematic laying sector companies in Castilla y León. This transaction, formalised on 18 August 2025, not only reinforces Hevo Group‘s position in laying poultry farming in Spain, but also underscores its firm commitment to sustainability, animal welfare and the expansion of its production capacity.

Hevo Group was formed in May 2023 as a result of the merger of Dagu, Ous Roig and Granja Agas

El Granjero: a cornerstone of the laying poultry sector in Castilla y León

Founded in the 1960s in Segovia, Producciones Avícolas El Granjero has evolved from its family origins to become an undisputed benchmark within Spanish large-scale retail distribution. The company, with an output exceeding 26 million dozens of eggs per year, is a fundamental part of the economic fabric of the Cuéllar district of Segovia, where it generates 90 direct jobs. Its operations are spread across three strategically located production centres in San Cristóbal de Cuéllar, La Olombrada and Campaspero.

In line with growing market demands and sector commitments, El Granjero has adapted its business model, standing out for its focus on alternative rearing systems. Currently, more than 73% of its production comes from cage-free systems, distributed as follows: 62% barn, 8% free-range and 3% organic. This approach aligns perfectly with Hevo Group’s vision and its commitment to animal welfare.

Hevo Group: accelerated expansion driven by acquisitions

The integration of El Granjero is pivotal to Hevo Group’s growth strategy, as the company is engaged in a significant conversion process towards alternative rearing systems. Hevo Group has planned investments exceeding 18 million euros in 2025 alone to drive this transition. This effort responds both to growing consumer preference for more sustainable production models and to the regulatory requirements advancing in this direction across Europe.

With this latest acquisition, Hevo Group raises its production capacity to more than 120 million dozens of eggs per year. Its production structure is consolidated with more than five million birds, six grading centres and 25 operational farms. The purchase of El Granjero follows the successful integrations of Avícola Larrabe and Granja Legaria carried out over the past year, cementing an expansion process that places Hevo Group among the leading players in the poultry sector in the European market.

A Group with strong ambitions for global leadership

Hevo Group, founded in 2022, has demonstrated a track record of accelerated growth, integrating companies such as Dagu, Ous Roig, Granja Agas, Avícola Larrabe, Granja Legaria and, now, El Granjero. Its growth and expansion phase intensified markedly in November 2024, when it joined the Global Eggs holding, one of the leading egg production companies worldwide, under the leadership of Brazilian magnate Ricardo Faria.

Hevo Group’s strategy is centred on a sustained growth model through the integration of operators with a strong regional presence. The incorporation of El Granjero not only expands its production scale, but also adds a valuable component of local identity and territorial ties — aspects increasingly valued by consumers and distributors in the food industry.

This transaction confirms Hevo Group’s ambition to become a benchmark in egg production in Europe, a segment where innovation, animal welfare and production efficiency are the pillars of the agenda for the coming years. The acquisition of El Granjero is, without doubt, a further step in Hevo Group’s commitment to being among the leaders in Spanish and European laying poultry farming.
