Tomorrow’s poultry nutrition is being designed today: ESPN 2025 will bring together Europe’s and the world’s scientific elite.

The 24th European Symposium on Poultry Nutrition (ESPN 2025) will be held from 23 to 26 June 2025 in Maastricht, the Netherlands. Jointly organised by the Dutch and Belgian branches of the World’s Poultry Science Association (WPSA), this biennial event will bring together poultry nutrition experts from around the world to discuss the future of sustainable feeding in poultry production.

Key topics and scientific contributions

The scientific programme will cover topics such as nutrition for sustainability, nutritional strategies in the face of climate change, poultry gut health, alternative protein sources and nutritional additives. The symposium will feature presentations from leading researchers and industry professionals, from both universities and research centres as well as private companies.

Arguably the most comprehensive Poultry Nutrition Congress in the world

The symposium will also serve as a platform for leading poultry nutrition companies to showcase their latest innovations. Among these, here are some examples of what we will be able to see:

Zinpro will discuss tools such as Zinpro® Perfect Carcass® and its 2024 Sustainability Report. Dutch company Trouw Nutrition will present nine scientific studies, including two oral presentations examining the long-term effects of initial body composition in laying hens on egg production and the impact of feeding strategies in the early life stages of the chick on broiler performance.

Perstorp will share research on how a combination of butyrins and valerins can improve laying hen performance and maintain eggshell quality during extended laying cycles. French company Olmix will present studies on mycotoxin risk management and the efficacy of different organic zinc sources on broiler growth. Dietaxion will exhibit a poster highlighting how double-buffered sodium butyrate improves feed efficiency in laying hens fed low-energy, low-protein diets.

Venue and accessibility

Maastricht, a city with a rich history and strategic location close to the Belgian border, offers excellent accessibility with eight nearby airports and robust rail connections. The MECC Maastricht provides state-of-the-art facilities suited to large-scale international conferences.
