The FAC participates in the meeting with President Illa to address the impact of tariffs on the agri-food sector

On 22 April 2025, the FAC (Federació Avícola Catalana) participated in a meeting with President Illa and Councillor Ordeig to address the impact of tariffs on the agri-food sector. The FAC took part in two meetings with the Catalan Government to analyse the implications of the United States trade war on the sector.

The FAC has participated in two meetings with the Catalan Government aimed at analysing the implications of the US trade war on the agri-food sector. The first meeting took place on 15 April at the Department of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Food. Councillor Ordeig, together with the Director of Prodeca, Dèlia Perpinà, presented to a broad sectoral representation the weight of food exports to the US and the actions taken by Prodeca to strengthen Catalan exports to this market and diversify commercial opportunities. The Councillor highlighted the Pla Responem of the Generalitat Government to guarantee the competitiveness of companies in the international market.

The second meeting, on 16 April, was held with the President of the Generalitat de Catalunya, Salvador Illa, to assess the repercussions of the tightening of trade measures on the agri-food sector. Twelve sectoral organisations participated, including the FAC, represented by its president, Mr Rafecas. His contribution focused on the difficulties that could arise in the future regarding the importation of raw materials, depending on the response the European Union gives to US trade decisions.

Both President Illa and Councillor Ordeig stressed that any company encountering issues as a result of the new situation should report them to the DARP in order to help resolve them.
