The Unión Nacional de Avicultores de México (UNA) is finalising its flagship event in Los Cabos, where experts will analyse the challenges and opportunities facing the sector, from technological innovation to foreign trade.
The Mexican poultry sector will convene in Los Cabos, Baja California Sur, to hold the 59th National Poultry Congress from 29 to 31 October 2025. Organised by the Unión Nacional de Avicultores (UNA), the event will bring together poultry producers, industry leaders and government officials to chart the industry’s roadmap, addressing critical issues ranging from farm level to international trade.
The official inauguration will take place on 30 October. At this central ceremony, the President of the UNA Board of Directors, Lorenzo Martín Martín, will present the prestigious Poultry Merit Diploma “Miguel Castro Sánchez” to Lic. Florentino Alonso Hidalgo, in recognition of his career achievements.
Thematic focus areas: AI, trade and strategy
Beyond internal meetings, such as the sessions of the Poultry Meat and Egg vice-presidencies, the academic programme stands out for its focus on modern challenges:
- Innovation and Technology: The “Fourth Industrial Revolution” will be addressed through the presentation “How to do more with less using Artificial Intelligence”, delivered by innovation expert Sharon Gai.
- Foreign Trade: A topic of vital importance will be the USMCA. Kenneth Smith Ramos, partner at Agon and former chief negotiator, will deliver the conference “Scenarios for the Mexican poultry industry in the USMCA review”.
- Leadership and Motivation: Mexican mountaineer Karla Wheelock will give the talk “Climb mountains and new heights: the attitude of life” (sponsored by Cargill), and Gustavo Gonzaga (Cambridge Family Enterprise Group) will discuss “Leading a successful generational transition”.
Economic analysis and market outlook
A range of national and international experts will provide an in-depth analysis of the economic and productive environment:
- General Outlook: Jorge Esteve Recolons, President of the Consejo Nacional Agropecuario (CNA), will open the keynote sessions with an analysis of the “Outlook for the agri-food sector in Mexico and the national poultry industry”.
- Benchmarking and Data: Key decision-making data will be presented by José Guilherme Morschel (Agri Stats Latam) and Javier Prida (Instituto Latinoamericano del Huevo), who will analyse productive and economic indices across Latin America.
- Outlook: Pablo Sherwell, Senior Analyst at Rabobank, will present “Production and consumption prospects for chicken and egg proteins worldwide and in Mexico”.
- Political-Economic Analysis: Renowned analyst Macario Schettino will close the keynote presentations with his vision of “A new world”.
The congress will also serve as a platform to present the results of the 2025 International Egg Fair, consolidating this gathering as the most important strategic forum for the poultry industry in Mexico.
