Experts to Analyse Smart Poultry Biosecurity at the ADA Summit 2025

Zaragoza will host the second edition of the ADA Biosecurity Summit on 4 June 2025, an exclusive event dedicated to biosecurity in the swine and poultry sectors. The conference, to be held at CaixaForum Zaragoza, is set to be a landmark gathering for addressing current and future biosecurity challenges, with a particular emphasis on poultry and the application of smart tools.

Biosecurity is a fundamental pillar in the development and management of the livestock sector. The ADA Biosecurity Summit aims to address this topic from every angle. An ambitious technical programme will bring together top-level experts, opinion leaders and leading professionals from the poultry and livestock sectors. The importance of biosecurity, the challenges facing the livestock industry in 2025, and the future of the sector will all be examined.

For poultry professionals, the summit offers specific and highly relevant sessions. The joint morning programme will address health threats to the Spanish livestock sector in 2025, with the participation of Luis Romero from MAPA. In addition, a round table will focus on “Smart biosecurity and pathogen movement on and between farms”, exploring how new technologies can help control the spread of disease. The World Animal Health Biosecurity Association (WABA) will be presented by Carlos Piñeiro of ADA. One of the highlights will be the presentation of “Smart biosecurity: Biocheck and Biorisk” as two key tools for biosecurity in the coming decade.

The afternoon will be divided into specific sessions for swine and poultry. The poultry session will address “Avian influenza: current situation and interspecies spillover. The role of biosecurity procedures”. This round table will feature speakers such as Irene Iglesias from CSIC, Natalia Majó from IRTA-CReSA, and Iván Sanz from the Centro Nacional de Gripe de Valladolid, moderated by Pablo Catalá of CECAV. Subsequently, Juan Carlos Abad from Cobb Española will present the “Application of smart biosecurity in poultry”, a key presentation for understanding how to integrate artificial intelligence and data analysis tools into poultry practices.
