The Spanish Agency for Food Safety and Nutrition (AESAN) issued an alert on 16 April 2025 upon detection of the Salmonella bacterium in a batch of DIA chicken burgers that has been distributed across nine autonomous communities.
Specifically, the affected product is batch 250969, ‘burguer meat de pollo. Selección DIA’, packaged in a plastic tray containing 6 units of 90 g, with a use-by date of 19/04/2025, sold refrigerated.
Initial distribution took place in Andalusia, Asturias, Aragon, the Valencian Community, Castile and León, Castile-La Mancha, Catalonia, Galicia and Madrid, although AESAN has indicated that redistribution to other autonomous communities in Spain cannot be ruled out.
This information has been communicated to the competent authorities of the autonomous communities through the Coordinated Rapid Information Exchange System (SCIRI), with the aim of verifying the withdrawal of the affected products from commercial channels.
Consumers who have the affected products at home are advised to refrain from consuming them. In the event that the product has already been consumed and symptoms compatible with salmonellosis are present (primarily diarrhoea or vomiting accompanied by fever and headache), it is recommended to seek medical attention at a healthcare centre.
