Opening of the Zinpro Innovation Center in Spain
Santiago de Compostela, Spain — Zinpro Corporation, recognised as the global leader in the innovation and manufacture of high-performance organic trace minerals, proudly announced the opening of its new innovation centre in Spain on 24 September 2025. This state-of-the-art facility is dedicated to advancing animal nutrition through cutting-edge research and worldwide collaboration.

The Zinpro Innovation Center is designed to foster the “cross-pollination of ideas” among university partners, industry leaders, and Zinpro’s global team of scientists. This collaborative approach ensures that every solution developed is grounded in science and delivers tangible, real-world impact for customers.
This is their second centre inaugurated worldwide, following the one in the USA, and its objective is to accelerate research in animal nutrition with a focus on gastrointestinal digestion (in both ruminants and monogastrics).
Rob Sheffer, President and CEO of Zinpro, noted that the Spain centre is a direct reflection of the company’s mission and core values. The goal is for this to be “their customers’ innovation centre”. Sheffer emphasised that by listening to customers’ needs and working together, they can deliver products and services that truly make a difference, since “great things happen when we partner together”.
Focus on Gastrointestinal Research and Sustainability
The centre’s primary activity focuses on gastrointestinal research. This includes intensive work on ruminal digestion and the development of specific nutritional solutions such as Zinpro® IsoFerm, a product that improves fibre and protein utilisation in ruminants.
In line with Zinpro’s commitment to sustainability, the centre will also focus on developing new approaches for optimising livestock emissions and processes across various areas of the biotechnology and animal nutrition industry.

The centre is equipped with advanced research and development capabilities, including fermentation units (both continuous and batch) and microbiology capacity. These units make it possible to understand what occurs naturally in the rumen of cattle and how nutrients are converted into useful metabolites for the animals.
Zinpro’s new centre in Spain will drive solutions for poultry, swine, ruminants, aquaculture, and companion animals.
In addition to the capabilities already established in the laboratory, the centre is developing a monogastric digestion system. This new system will expand understanding of how feed is converted into energy in monogastric animals, including livestock such as pigs and poultry, as well as aquaculture species and even companion animals.
According to Zinpro, the new innovation centre will act as a catalyst, shortening the development cycle and enabling high-impact solutions to reach the market faster for a wide range of animal species. The Spain centre is Zinpro’s second innovation centre, the first having been inaugurated in Eden Prairie, Minnesota, in 2007.
