CUAltos inaugurates International Egg Fair in Tepatitlán
In this third edition, five thousand breakfasts were distributed; workshops were also organised in conjunction with Papirolas
The Centro Universitario de los Altos (CUAltos) inaugurated the International Egg Fair 2025 which, together with the Municipality of Tepatitlán, hoteliers and restaurateurs, seeks to highlight the culture and identity surrounding the star product of this poultry-farming region.
The Rector of CUAltos, Antonio Ponce Rojo, highlighted the pride of being from Tepatitlán as well as being the leading egg producers in the state and the country.
“It is a synergy between poultry producers, the municipal government, the Universidad de Guadalajara (UdeG), restaurants and hotels to promote the culture of the egg — not only its consumption, but also the identity and pride of being from Tepatitlán,” he said.

He highlighted that the UdeG has contributed from its own front through education and also through the organisation of this International Egg Fair.
The Municipal President of Tepatitlán, Miguel Ángel Esquivias Esquivias, underscored Jalisco’s contribution to egg production, accounting for 54.4 per cent of national output, equivalent to 1.49 million tonnes in 2024.
“This fair is much more than a celebration; it is a symbol of our identity, a showcase of our culture and a driver of economic development for our city within Mexico’s poultry industry,” said the Municipal President.
He added that this sector in Tepatitlán consolidates the region’s standing as a national and international benchmark — the egg capital of the world.

Following the inauguration of the Fair, a parade was held featuring cheerleading squads from the Prepa de Tepatitlán with 50 students; young people from the civil association Aurora Luévanos del Río and from the multiple-support centre Esteban Vera Muñoz. Local school students and other institutions and organisations also took part.
The Papirolas Festival offered workshops including clay art led by Memo Plastilina; painting with Ixtaccíhuatl Castro; communications with Jorge Aguilera; environmental education with Angélica Anytsirc; healthy living with Miguel Medina; watercolour and clay modelling with Lourdes Frías; theatre with Josefina Villalobos; and ceramics with Jonathan Reyes. The show “Fetuccini” was also performed.
Prior to the workshops, five thousand breakfasts were served, with egg as the main protein in the dish.
